Contributions to Structural Engineering History in Northern California

Harry Okino was born in 1930 in Lodi, California. He graduated from the University of California, Berkeley in 1954 and went to work as a junior engineer with the Division of San Francisco Bay Toll Crossing. He later worked at John Sardis & Associates, and then in 1966 joined Daniel Shapiro at SOHA Engineers, becoming the managing principal at the firm. Harry retired in 1994 after forty years of service to the structural engineering profession.

Harry primarily specialized in wood-frame residential structures. He was respected in the engineering community for his special expertise in complicated wood frame design. Architects appreciated his creativity, his understanding in executing their designs, and the quality of his presentation drawings.
